Completing the programmes that I chose has given me a valuable insight into the health and social care industry, particularly mental health, which was invaluable to my career working in mental
health care and being able to share this knowledge with students. I became much more confident throughout the duration of my studies - from stuttering through my first presentation to now
delivering workshops to groups of up to 30 people. The placements on both my Foundation degree and the PGCE were invaluable as it gave me the opportunity to gain hands on experience and apply the theory I had learned in the classroom.

Course - FdSc Community Mental Health, BSc Health and Social Care Top up, Post Graduate Certificate in Education
It gave me the compassion and experience needed to work closely with families, supporting parents with their child’s care. More than anything else, I gained the confidence I needed to have in myself and my decisions, and allowed me to venture out on my own. The essay writing skills came in very useful when writing my own policies and procedures. Of course I also gained a lot of knowledge from this course and was able to explore topics such as child poverty which is reflected in my work ethos.
Keira Gilbert
Course - Level 5 Children, Young People and Families
The course gave me all the knowledge and understanding I required to be able to become a practicing counsellor. During level six I was able to undertake 100 hours on placement where I was able to put the skills and theory I had learnt into practice.
